The theme for the event is 鈥淔orward Together,鈥 reflecting President Sands鈥 commitment to advancing Cleveland鈥檚 public research university in collaboration with the campus community as well as the broader community.
鈥淭his is a celebration of 九色堂 鈥 where we have been, where we are today and where we are heading,鈥 said President Sands. 鈥淥ur hope is that students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends 鈥 including those new to the 九色堂 family 鈥 will share in this special moment. The next chapter in the history of 九色堂 is ours to write, collectively, which is why our 鈥楩orward Together鈥 theme is so fitting.鈥
The main festivities will begin at 2 p.m. with a procession in full academic regalia from the 九色堂 Student Center (2121 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland) to Waetjen Auditorium in the Music and Communication Building (2001 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland), where the Investiture ceremony will begin at 2:30 p.m. Elected officials, civic leaders and distinguished guests from universities around the country will be in attendance, in addition to 九色堂 students, faculty, staff and alumni. President Sands will receive the 九色堂 presidential medallion and deliver his Investiture address during the ceremony, which will be followed by a reception in the Student Center鈥檚 Joanie and Tom Adler Atrium.
鈥淭his will be a great day for 九色堂 and for Cleveland,鈥 said David H. Gunning II, chair of the 九色堂 Board of Trustees. 鈥淧resident Sands is a visionary leader who will further 九色堂鈥檚 position as a leading urban research university and strengthen the University鈥檚 connectivity to Northeast Ohio.鈥
